Webmasters can use rel=”canonical” HTTP headers to signal the canonical URL for both HTML documents and other types of content such as PDF files. For example, perhaps you have a white paper as an HTML page and as a PDF using two URLs – example.com/white-paper.html and example.com/white-paper.pdf. <a href="http://www.softwaredig.com/category/seo/"title="search engine optimization" >SEO‘s can signal to Google that the canonical URL for the PDF download is the HTML document by using a rel=”canonical” HTTP header when the PDF file is requested.

So how do you apply it?
If you’re using ASP.net, Classic ASP or PHP web pages, here’s how:

ASP.Net C#:
<%Response.AddHeader(@”Link”,@”< http://www.yoursite.com/>; rel=””canonical”””);%>

ASP BLOCKED SCRIPT
<%Response.AddHeader “Link”,”< http://www.yoursite.com/>; rel=””canonical”””%>

PHP:

<?php header(“Link: <http://www.yoursite.com/>; rel=”canonical””);?>

When the web page is requested the server will respond with a 200 status as well as the link header telling Google that the page is a canonical of the URL specified.

Google provided another instance when this might come in handy. For example, serving the same file from multiple URLs (common if using a content distribution/delivery network). The rel=canonical HTTP header could be used to signal to Google the preferred URL.

.htaccess

All I would need to do to make this happen is add the following code to my htaccess file:

1

2

3

<FilesMatch "my-file.pdf">

Header set Link '<http://www.yoursite.com>; rel="canonical"'

</FilesMatch>

Once you’ve added that to your htaccess file, you’ll want to test your header to make sure that it’s correctly.

	As of January 2011, there were 273,301,445 websites. This represents a 156% increase in 4 years.

	Worldwide internet traffic grew 62% in 2010.

	As of April 2011, the Google search engine still dominates with approximately 67% of all U.S. search traffic. Yahoo gets approximately 15% and Bing gets approximately 12%.

	Google supplies search results to some of the largest Internet search engines. This means if you have #1 ranking on Google, you most likely will have a #1 ranking on Yahoo, AOL, and Bing too.

	It is really hard to reach the today’s customers through a newspaper, a phone book, or even a television advertisement. Most people go online to search for local businesses today.

	A new study has determined that search engines have beat the printed yellow pages when it comes to the number of people looking for local information. It also found that online searchers are more likely to convert into sales.

	Surveys show that 85% of Internet users find websites through search engines.

	98% of people searching for something online never go past the first page of search results.

	Organic (natural) search result listings receive 85% of all clicks, as opposed to only 15% for Pay Per Click (PPC).

	Almost 250 million searches for products and businesses are performed per day on Google alone.

	SEO Services take time to complete, but studies show that it has great benefits when done effectively. Traffic will continue to grow on autopilot once you start boosting your search engine rankings.

The Truth About Backlinks Inner Circle Review

For the World Wide Web, Search Engine Optimization (<a href="http://www.softwaredig.com/category/seo/"title="search engine optimization" >SEO) is like water to a plant. For SEO work to be successful on a website, links need to go in and out of that website. Back links are also referred to as inbound links and are submitted to other sites. There is a company that knows the importance of links and according to Backlinks Inner Circle Review, they do this well.

They stress the importance of back links to reach higher rankings in search engines. The more links on other websites, the more credibility with search engines and that means the higher one will be seen in search engine results. This company will recommend a marketing strategy that includes efforts to obtain more popularity for links.

They build back links that are of quality information and that are related to the company website. Search engines will not place a lot of weight on links that are not related to the specific website. There is no use linking to car tires when your website is all about speedboats. A site with only a small number of quality back links, will position itself higher for targeted keywords. Sites with several unrelated links will not have a good ratings. This is where the experts will assist a company to get the keywords and links right.

There are various ways in which they will assist a company to obtain back links for their website. Some of these methods are done free while others will cost money. The free options are to place the website on a large number of directories that are available on the Internet. They have knowledge of the reputable directory sites and will use those to ensure the website will have search engine favor.

Link exchange is another method that they will apply to a company website. This is when a web master creates a link on a website, which points to other webmasters. One-way links hold more advantages that two-way search engines will ignore links and irrelevant links. Webmasters usually have several websites and some are not even related to the other.

Backlink Inner Circle is aware of this and will irradiate any problems relating to IP clashes. This happens when the same IP is picked up more than once on the same website. A search engine will regard this as duplication and ignore one or all of these links.

One of the best ways to build links is to use an article directory. Such a directory contains a huge amount of articles. It allows one to publish articles together with links in a resource box. These directories ask for quality content, they approve and publish the content and in return provide a suitable category for the website and provide the links.

The newest method is to post discussions in forums and blogs. Most often, these websites already carry extremely successful links and SEO optimization, therefore the moment a company name appears in one of these pages, it will be displayed very high in search engine results. Backlinks Inner Circle knows this too well and is available to assist companies in all of the above-mentioned strategies.

The best kind of traffic is free traffic, I think we can all agree on that.

There’s just this one little problem: Free traffic isn’t free.

At least, in most cases it isn’t.

If you’ve ever tried to rank for anything but the crummiest of low-traffic keywords in Google, you might have had a frustrating experience. Just optimizing your website certainly won’t get you there (and unless you’re in the top spots, you won’t see hardly any traffic).

So, you need to build backlinks, right? That’s what gets sites ranked in the big G. But if you go and submit a few articles, maybe do some social bookmarking and put your signature in a forum or two, that still doesn’t get your site anywhere near the top…

If you want to get sites ranked in the top spots in Google, you need some automation tools. It’s just a fact. You can’t build thousands of backlinks manually and unless you build thousands of backlinks, you won’t get good rankings.

And that’s why free traffic isn’t free.

Good link-building automation tools cost a fortune, often in the form of monthly subscription fees.

And so, to get a good amount of “free” traffic, you need to invest quite a lot of money.

But that’s about to change…

Backlink Battleplan is a system that teaches you how to build backlinks and it’s all about getting tons of top-quality backlinks, getting them automatically and getting them for free!
